Project Spotlight: Moynihan Train Hall/Penn Station

RW-(TS) Penn Station 1 1200x700

Managing Disruption With Reusable Temporary Construction Walls

Moynihan Train Hall, which first emerged decades ago as a strategy for improving the adjoining Penn Station, serves passengers and visitors arriving each day by Amtrak and the Long Island Rail Road. Designed as a public gathering place, connecting Penn Station to Hudson Yards, Manhattan’s Far West Side, and beyond, Moynihan Train Hall includes a large food court.

When the food court recently required renovations, Moynihan leveraged JRM Construction, a leading general contracting and construction management firm. Rather than building temporary walls from drywall or cheap alternatives, JRM used RealWall™ panels that were originally purchased by Skanska in December 2020.

Highly durable and reusable over dozens of projects, RealWall saved the day at Moynihan by reducing construction noise up to 50%, stopping the spread of dangerous construction dust, and delivering unmatched durability and stability.

Best of all: the panels originally purchased and used by Skanska – and subsequently reused by JPM – are now in use again at Penn Station. RealWall’s extreme durability and versatility make it the perfect choice for any multi-phase project requiring fast-and-easy setup, versatility and superior sound attenuation.
